Moving at high speed isn’t risk free. When Railpen asked Quarterback to design and build their new office, the timetable was all-important. Five weeks after being appointed, QBRE were on site with a signed off design; impressive in any circumstances but, given the required level of execution, almost impossible. Almost.

Whether it was a key stakeholder meeting or steel for the staircase being craned in, everything was scheduled in advance to ensure efficiency, which was key to delivering against the extremely tight timescale. And, it’s fair to say, the results are more Orient Express than 17.23 to Watford Junction.

Without any compromises on sustainability, design, build quality or finish, the project is a conceptual, logistical and aesthetic triumph: a railway-heritage inspired statement for a client that demands the very best.
